Seeburg '1000' Background Music System

Seeburg made background music (elevator music) players back in the good old days. They were a jukebox company, so they used vinyl records. The records were an unusual size, being 9 inches around with a 2 inch hole, sort of a 45 on steroids. The record turned at 16-2/3 RPM and had 40 minutes of music per side.

I wrote a Wikipedia page about this machine to fill in all the juicy details. Feel free to add to it if you have any additional information.

I have converted a bunch of these records to MP3 files for your enjoyment. Please take only what you can use, but use all you take. These are recorded at the mind-numbingly low bitrate of 32kbps, which matches the fidelity of the records just fine. Each file is about 10MB.

The disks were issued every three months, seven to a box, to be cycled into every fourth position in the record stack.

The Mood library is lush, slow and innocuous, aimed at upscale eateries.
